The key to change is looking at your beliefs and keeping the ones that support you and reframing the ones that are limiting you. Your beliefs influence every thought you have, every action you take and every decision you make. Yet how often do we check in with our beliefs. Most of the time our beliefs are unconscious and we do things in auto pilot. Do you jump out bed in the morning and say to yourself ‘hey I am going to change my belief today about my health’. I don’t think so.

However, if you want to change and are looking for a different result then your beliefs come onto your radar. This topic comes up in most of my coaching conversations with clients as this is where the most potential is for growth. I had a great coaching conversation recently with a client who gave me a real gem. He said that ‘the road to change can be a long or a short road’. The choice is yours.

Beliefs are thoughts that you keep thinking. You can change your thoughts so you can change your beliefs. It takes commitment and awareness to observe your thoughts and to decide that you can change those thoughts.

Here are two questions for you:

Trust that whatever is happening has a purpoase. This could be your time to make the changes you want in your life. We all have the potential to live our dreams.

Here are 3 tips that I used to make my dreams become a reality:

1. Faith that my dreams would happen even though I didn’t know how
2. Openness to take risks and follow my heart
3. Persistence to keep going into unknown territory

It is 4am in the morning as I write this blog and the ideas were flying into my mind. I am wide awake as one of our 3 year old twins, Sophie, woke me up. She is back a sleep and here I am writing my blog to share those ideas with you. I decided to launch myself out there so people would know what I do and since I made that the decision the doors are opening before me. Woohoo! It is like each day something new appears, I either meet someone or I talk to someone on the phone or read something that generates another idea. It is like I am being brought along and I am now living my dream. I want to tell you how all this happened.

When I was made redundant in December 2002 it was like my world had been turned upside down. I knew it was on the cards but it didn’t take away the shock to my world.

Out of that shock came my dream, that I would spend my time doing what I love using my skills and gifts and make money too. My dream is to contribute to raising global consciousness. It is no small dream and I wasn’t sure how I would do it but it was there, it was a desire deep in my heart that I could do it and would do it. It was a real ‘Is feidir linn’ time in my life. I retrained as a Success Coach. Little did I know what else was in store for me!

After spending 18 years in my IT career, a very successful and enjoyable one I am happy to say, I opened the doors to the next chapter of my life.

Here are some of the amazing things that started to unfold for me:

• The gift of three beautiful girls, our first daughter was born in September 2005 following by our twins in April 2008
• My husband got a transfer to work in Swords where we live which was great to have the extra hands on board with the girls
• Went back to work part-time based in my attic as I did most of my coaching over the phone and having time with my young family
• Opportunities to continue to develop and grow my skills by joining local business networks, the International Coaching Federation, Toastmasters and co-hosting a Special Interest Group for coaches internationally
• Developing my on-line presence and writing my first e-book
• And many more

Prepared to be inspired!!!

The focus today in a lot of organisations and with most professionals is to stay afloat and survive the current economic crisis. I want to challenge this and show you how you can rise above the turmoil and how to get the results you want? Where transformation is possible despite what is happening around you.

My starting point when I am coaching a leader or manager is to believe that there is more potential to be unlocked. With this strong intention held in my mind I create the space and environment for my client to open up and see this potential too. I don’t tell the client as that takes away the discovery. When one see’s it for their self there is an ownership, an accountability that is never possible when you tell them. This is why the old style of management, ‘command & tell’ is no longer sustainable. It is now about creating the space for your staff to ‘BE’ their full potential. This is only possible when the leader is ‘BEING’ their full self, accessing their own full potential. You can’t show someone else how to be or do something if you haven’t reached that place inside of yourself. I am not talking about qualifications or practical skills, they are important but without self-awareness you may as well be blowing in the wind. The key is to raise your level of consciousness to who you really are.

The question then arises how does a leader know whether or not they are using their full potential. When I refer to potential I am talking about emotional, spiritual and creative intelligence along with intellectual intelligence. When you open up to all of these intelligences you access your full potential.

I am privileged to work with business professional across the globe and I see them being transformed from stress and fear into high performing professionals who stand out from the crowd shining with confidence and possibilities. I hear it in their voices, you can see it in how they present themselves, client’s feel it from their customer service. They are operated from a higher consciousness, a higher level of self-awareness. For me it is like the phoenix rising out of the ashes, a merging of the old self and the new self, bringing about an amazing transformation. Are you ready to stand out and BE your full potential?

I recently went to the ‘We will rock you’ show based on the music from Queen. As I sat in the audience really allowing myself to enjoy the music, the atmosphere and the story, something shifted in me. It was like I was hearing my own story being told to me in the show. It had allowed me to put words on what I had been experiencing for a long time and here it was now being presented to me in the form of a musical theatrical experience. As the world is shouting in turmoil, looking for answers the voice in my head is telling me it is time to shout out what I have learnt.

It is time for new Leadership and we need it fast. It is time for new beginnings and time for going beyond all boundaries of what we knew before. It is time to tap into the creative consciousness that lies all around us waiting to take us from struggle and strife to ease and flow. Where we live on purpose and shout success. Yes it is possible and to do this we just need to let go of worn out beliefs and conditioning that have surrounded us for centuries. It is time to stand into our own creative power. It is like consciousness has brought us to this point where we had no other choice but to let go and surrender.

Are you ready to start serving the world? We have many role models in leaders and artists like Gandhi, Shakespeare and many more who have allowed their creative talent to BE who they are. As the world is shaken by the aftermath of the global crisis it is time to look within ourselves for the leadership that is required to create a New Way of Being, Living and Working.

Having studied the work by Anthony De Mello, Deepak Chopra and trained by Dick McHugh from the Sadhana Institute in India, I have been privileged to be influenced by some of the top experts in the field of awareness. We are so much more than we think we are. We have so much more power than we give ourselves credit for. And now I want to share it with you so you too can experience the success and abundance that you deserve. It all comes from a place of Pure Love and it radiates from me. It is who I am, now that I have allowed myself to remember who I am. I invite you to do the same and allow the creative force within you to unfold and allowing the worn out beliefs and attachments to fall away.

As the world is still rocking from the global crisis it is time now for you to step up and be a leader in whatever you do. Once you move from your head into your heart you too will be tapping into your own creative energy, the key to your own treasure.

As I reviewed Ireland’s Rich List 2010 in one of the Irish Sunday newspapers yesterday I was encouraged to see people thriving in what they do. The richest Irish person in the world is Palolonji Shapoorji Mistry who is married to an Irish born national, Pat Perin Dubash. I think it is amazing that the Irish nation has attracted an Indian-born billionaire to become the richest Irish citizen in 2010 who owns 18.4 per cent of Tata, one of the strongest brands in India.

At a time when the Irish economy appears to be sinking based on how the media are presenting it, there is a completely different way of looking at it without condoning what has happened.

Ireland has so much to give globally. Our strong international brand of ‘being Irish’ has been dinted and it is time to learn from what has happened and to turn it around quickly to re-surface stronger with a clear vision of how we want it to be.

I put a question to a panel of key Irish leaders and business men and women in September 2009 at the Fingal Day of Enterprise 2009 asking them this question: ‘Ireland is feeling the heat more intensely from the recession than other countries across the globe. Out of this chaos may come transformation? We as a nation have an opportunity to lead the way to doing business using a more ethical and holistic approach. Who will spearhead this and how will we get involved?

I am now looking to myself for the conviction and leadership that I was looking for last September. We know what success looks like so let’s do it with a stronger foundation. Here’s what I am going to do and I invite you to do the same in whatever leadership position you are in:

1. Believe that there is a purpose in all that has happened, integrate the lesson and move on.
2. All is well and that you are exactly where you are meant to be.
3. Make a decision to let go of the limiting beliefs that have held you back and that are not serving you.
4. Allow the creative energy within you to emerge.
5. Start telling a new story of what you want rather than want you don’t want.
6. Focus on what you can give rather than on what you can take.

This is it! You are here during these extraordinary times as the world is shouting in turmoil for leaders to do it differently. You cannot change the past but you have the power to change the present and the future. I will leave you with the words of a famous Indian leader:

Be the change you want to see in the world. Mahatma Gandhi.

I watched Harry Crosbie, a successful Irish business man on the ‘Late Late Show’ talking about being open for business at the New Grand Canal Theatre in Dublin. Two things really stood out for me:

1. He had a strong belief in his product, a 2,100 seat theatre and

2. He had a clear vision of having a venue where Irish people would have their own West End in Dublin.

His comment about ‘dusting ourselves off about what has happened to the Irish economy as we can’t do anything about it and getting on with it’ struck a chord with me. How many of you are unconsciously holding yourself back in your business or work by a past event that you think you have let go of? Or is it a limiting belief that you are not consciously aware of that is attracting the results to date?

How open are you for business today or is there something stopping you from following through on your goals and vision you started out with at the beginning of 2010? If you are stuck in blaming and staring at what happened to the Irish or world economy it is time to move on. This applies whether you are part of a large organisation or an entrepreneur.

Personally, I had been turning up at work, getting things done and overall I thought I was OPEN for business. But unconsciously I wasn’t. After creating my new brand, getting my website redesigned and launching it I started to procrastinate telling people I was OPEN for business. I have been searching for the right way to market myself, the right language to put on my programs and material and looking for the perfect way to attract the right customers, etc.  So I made a decision that it was time to just do it and tell the world I AM OPEN FOR BUSINESS. Here is the process I used to get myself moving and doing something different that you could use to start attracting the results you want:

ASK YOURSELF THESE 3 QUESTIONS TO FIND OUT HOW OPEN ARE YOU FOR BUSINESS?

1. How clear is your vision for your business?

2. How strongly do you believe in yourself and your product?

3. What are you unconsciously committing to in your business? If you are continuing to attract much the same as you always got in your business then how willing are you or how ready are you to become aware of a limiting belief that you may not even be conscious of that is holding you back?
